E-mpact

Mission

E-mpACT is an e-waste collection company targeting illegally employed youth in Agbogbloshie, Ghana.   Around 48% of Ghanaian youth is currently unemployed. This is because many of them are working in the illegal e-waste market extracting valuable metals from old electronics. However, they lack the knowledge, skills and the facilities to do it efficiently and during the process they harm both their health and the environment they live in. Currently only 10% of e-waste is being formally recycled in Ghana.  Our main objectives are to increase this number and improve working conditions of the people there. We will formally employ the collectors, properly store the e-waste and then transport it to the recycling facility that competently handles the e-waste and makes the recycling more efficient and profitable.
