Ronasol

Mission

RonaSol aims to decrease chronic water shortages for households in need. The team proposed a single-basin solar still that is made of one basin filled with water and enclosed with a tinted translucent dome-shaped cover. The design ensures high insolation, using a few other design tricks, accelerates the natural evaporation process – producing between 5 and 15 liters of drinking water every day with the power of the sun. Evaporation can ensure safe drinking water because it desalinates, kills virtually any microbes, and also eliminates toxic impurities, like the iron, manganese and arsenic salts. The solar still design is simple, affordable, and can be locally manufactured.
